We have all done it. Set up for you your shot, golf club face square to the pin. Stance is perfect, swing feels great, and the perfect ping when the club hits the golf ball and the flight path of the ball looks like a darn banana. A slice has happened to everyone at one time or another. To cure a golf slice does not take a lot of work, and will make a huge difference in your golf game.

A golf slice is when the golf club face strikes the golf ball off square. This causes the golf ball to spin during flight imparting the dreaded curve that has ruined many a shots. Even the pros will occasionally hit a golf slice, so your goal is to learn the basics of reducing your chance of hitting a banana ball.

When you want to fix a golf slice examine your stance. When you set up for your shot look at your feet. Are they square to your target? Lay a club on the ground aiming at the intended target. Do your feet line up with your club? When in your stance, do your shoulders also stay square to the same plane as your feet? It is important to keep your shoulders lined up to that target also.

It is hard to fix your golf slice by yourself. Not that it cannot be done, but enlist the help of a friend to stand back and watch you during the full range of your golf swing. Or use a video camera to record you while you hit the ball multiple times. See want you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. Take what you see and change up your stance till you are consistently hitting the ball in a straight line and not slicing the golf ball.

Put your golf club behind your back while you turn your back to your target. This is like taking your club back as you hinge your arm at your shoulder. This is one drill you can practice to improve your golf swing. The other drill that you can practice is also known as no arms. Remember, a great golf swing does not mean you have to swing with your arms. Also, another thing to remember is to cock your wrists. This may be difficult at first, but it will become natural to you with enough practice.

Your left arm should be position clockwise slightly when you start the back swing. It is not really something you should actually remember. It will happen naturally if you allow it, so do not resist this natural movement. You might be resisting this movement unconsciously because when you swing your golf club, this movement will cause the head of your golf club to open slightly. Just remember, allow it to happen and don’t resist it.

Some golfers lift their front foot off the ground when they swing their golf club back thinking that their back swing will be more powerful doing so. This is not correct. You should keep the front foot on the ground to make the back swing well-anchored. It is ok to let the foot roll freely to the inside. Lifting the front heel can easily cause the body to coil and make it much harder to build up the tension.

Besides the golf stance, the golf grip and the golf back swing, the next tip is not to begin your swing with your shoulders. Trigger your swing with the lower part of your body. Turn the belt buckle to your target such that your hips will turn as fast and powerful as possible when doing your golf down swing.

When it comes to golf swing, remember that the hands are the most important parts of the body. You really need to know how the hands work if you want to be good at this game. In general, the arms should control the shaft of the club while the hands should control the club head.
Now, lets discuss simple golf instruction about putting. As we know, putting is the final step in completing a hole in golf. Putting can make a lot of difference between a good round and a horrible round of golf. The right golf putting grip is very important. You may grip your club using a overlapping grip or a cross handed grip. Many golfers whose wrists usually bend as they hit the ball prefer the cross handed grip. Keeping a solid and firm golf grip while swinging is critical to your golfing consistency and success. Now there are many different “ideas” on how hard you should grip the golf club, e.g. hold the grip as though youre holding a baby bird OR hold the grip as tight as you would a loaf of bread etc., etc. But the bottom line really is not so much how hard you hold the grip but its how hard you dont hold it.

What do I mean?

Well in an ideal world you should hold the golf grip just hard enough so it doesnt slip or move around when you swing. Now how hard that is for you or me varies greatly on the strength of our hands.

If you have very strong hands then you may not need to hold the golf grip as hard as, say, I would. So the defining line on how hard to golf grip a club is by how much it moves and heres a great way to determine your golf grip movement.

Line up 6 balls in a row on tees and then start at the first one and hit it and dont alter your golf grip and then hit the next ball and the next one. And if you come to a point when you cant hit the ball because your golf grip is nothing like it should be then you know that your golf grip has slipped when youve swung. If you cant hit the second shot because of your grip movement then youve got a grip slippage problem that needs fixing fast.

The main key to your grip slipping will most probably be due to your top hand moving. So heres a simple exercise you can do to help fix this.

Grip the golf club as normal. But just before you swing place a golf tee between the pad of your left hand and the golf grip. Now this golf tee should be securely in place by the pressure that you’re placing on the golf grip with your left hand. Once it is you simply need to swing as normal and keep the tee in place.

Naturally this can only happen if you don’t move your top hand grip. And this will happen naturally just by you being aware of the golf tee and trying to keep it in place. Then after some practice with this exercise go back and do the 6 ball exercise and see if you’ve improved your grip security.

I’m sure you will find you have improved it. So try this and see for yourself.

Im going to give you some great golf backswing advice thats going to help you a lot. There are two mistakes that you can make in the backswing. And then Im going to tell you the correct way to do it.

The first mistake is, if your shoulder doesnt move and doesnt turn backwards, then your arms will run into it and the shoulder will tilt up in the air. And if you do that, the golf swing will look too vertical, and youll hit the ground and youll hit a lot of shots off to the right.

On the other hand, some of you think so much of turning that you turn your right shoulder and your hips together, and the golf club gets way around inside.

So, for those of you that do this, youll wind up hitting a lot of tops because the club wont swing back down.

So, let me give you some golf backswing advice. This is the correct way. After youve addressed the golf ball, the right shoulder starts turning backwards. And that way, this enables the golf club to swing up on the correct plane.

So, if you can move your shoulder out of the way and dont turn your bottom much, the golf club will move up on plane as you turn away from the golf ball.

Now, Im going to tell you the role that the knees play during the entire golf swing. The correct posture in golf, in order to improve your golf swing, is that you bend at your hips, over the bones that are on both sides of your hips.

We dont sit in this sport. We have our knees slightly flexed, and then we bend from the hips.

In the golf swing, the knees never ever get straight in the backswing. They stay flexed the entire way.

The game of golf starts and ends right here. Good players play the sport from inside the right knee as they turn. It doesnt go out and it doesnt go straight. But it stays where it was at the beginning of the backswing, so as we start back the knees dont move.

Now, the downswing: As the arms start to unwind the knees dont move at all. The centrifugal force, the speed of the golf club swings into the ground.

As the club passes you and your left hip starts to move out of the way, then, and only then, does the right knee start to get straighter in the downswing after impact.

And the entire time, make sure that you dont lock your left knee in the downswing. Keep it slightly flexed as you swing through. You dont have to come all the way up and straighten it up.

I think that that might help you improve your golf swing. Think about this tip a couple of times and make sure that this is what you’re thinking of when you swing the golf club, in relation to your knees.
